To make sure your new mini excavator works with maximum efficiency for as long as possible, it’s necessary that you conduct regular preventative maintenance and inspections. By routinely maintaining your excavator you will be ensuring the function, value and longevity of the machine.
Preventative Maintenance and Inspections
The benefits of maintaining your mini excavator far outweigh the possibilities that you risk by not taking preventative maintenance measures. For example, you will be less likely to experience unexpected downtime delays or be required to transport it to a service centre.
As most people who work with digging machinery (or any machinery, for that fact) know, you should be completing daily checks before usage to ensure it is safe to use and running in top form. You should inspect the hydraulic fluid and engine oil and replenish them if required. If you’re unsure which fluids your Kubota machinery needs then refer to the owner’s manual or talk your Kubota dealer. By completing these simple checks daily, you will save time and money on preventable repairs.
Tips for Maintaining your Mini Excavator
The following are some basic tips to maintain your Excavator
- Check Engine oil, coolant levels, outer air filter element.
- Check the oil cooler and radiator for coolant leaks which may need to be seen to immediately.
- Check the fuel water trap weekly and remove any build-up of water that is present.
- Inspect Hydraulic Oil Level & Fuel Level
- Examine the rubber tracks and undercarriage of the excavator, as this area can become built up with dirt and mud. Cleaning this area regularly will prevent damage to undercarriage components and ensure the tracks will retain the correct tension.
- Inspect the hydraulic hoses for any leaks that might have occurred.
- Regular greasing of all pins & bushes
- Examine the rubber tracks and undercarriage of the excavator, as this area can become built up with dirt and mud. Cleaning this area regularly will prevent damage to undercarriage components and ensure the tracks will retain the correct tension.
- Inspect your bucket and any other attachments for damage and replace when required. Worn out equipment will make the machine work harder and overwork the equipment, affecting the efficiency and longevity of the machine.
If unsure of any of the above points always refer to the operator’s manual.
