But regular check-ups are required to keep your investment running properly and safely at all times.
One maintenance task you’ll need to do is check the hydraulic oil level. Read on to find out how often you need to check the hydraulic oil level and how to do it on your Kubota excavator.
When to Check the Hydraulic Oil Level on Your Kubota Excavator
Maintaining your new or used Kubota excavator requires doing daily checks on the following:
- Coolant level
- Fuel level
- Engine oil level
- Hydraulic oil level
- Lubrication points
You’ll also need to check the fan belt, radiator and oil cooler and any electrical wiring. These daily checks should be performed before starting the excavator. Hydraulic oil level is also checked at every service, with hydraulic oil changed every 1000 hr service. but this should be handled by a professional, such as the team at Supergroups.
If at any time you need to perform repair work and are dismantling the hydraulic parts, always make sure the hydraulic oil has cooled down completely. Otherwise, you run the risk of causing yourself serious burn injuries.
Always refer to your operations manual when performing daily checks and carrying out maintenance and repairs on your Kubota excavator.
How to Check the Hydraulic Oil Level
Model Range – 0.8 to 5.7. For KX080-3 please contact Supergroups.
Checking the hydraulic oil level needs to be done daily with the other checks mentioned above. To keep it safe, as part of a precautionary measure, remove the key from the ignition before checking the oil level.
Use the following step-by-step guide to safely check the hydraulic oil level on your Kubota excavator.
Step 1
Make sure your excavator is parked on firm, stable and level ground. Bring the attachments and the dozer blade down to the ground by lowering them. Turn off the engine and take out the key.
Step 2
Look at the hydraulic level gauge and check if the oil lies at the centre of the gauge. At a normal temperature of 10 to 30 degrees Celsius, the oil level should be at the centre.
Step 3
If the oil level sits at the centre, then enough oil is present in the machine. However, if it’s below the centre, you’ll need to fill up on oil. This must be done BEFORE you start the engine or else you risk damaging your machine.
Step 4
To add more oil, use a recommended product and fill through the oil port. Recommended oils are listed in the excavator’s operations manual. Before filling, wipe away any sand and other residue around the oil port to avoid contaminating the hydraulic oil.
Quick tip! Make sure you use identical oil whenever topping up. Check with your Kubota excavator dealer which oil has been used in your machine.
